Topic #1 The use of Form 2555 by U.S. Citizens

Form 2555, Foreign Earned Income, is used by U.S. citizens who live and earn income abroad to claim the §911 exclusion for foreign earned income and the foreign housing deduction/exclusion. This course will examine the Bona Fide Residence Test and the Physical Presence Test. We will also “walk down” the preparation of Form 2555.

Topic #2 Digital Assets The New Frontier for Taxes

This course will examine the new rules for the reporting of digital assets, what actions are required to be reported on the tax return and the responsibility of the taxpayer in reporting digital activities. We will cover the various types of digital assets including cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens, crypto assets, etc.

Learning Objectives

Topic #1

At the conclusion of this course, the participant will:

  • Be able to determine the applicable test to qualify for the income exclusion

  • Have a better understanding of the difference between the housing exclusion and deduction, and when to apply the benefit to the taxpayer

  • Understand the various parts of the Form 2555 and determine the information needed to complete

Topic #2

At the conclusion of this course, the participant will:

  • Identify the taxable/nontaxable activities with cryptocurrency

  • Determine the appropriate tax reporting of digital assets

  • Analyze the transfer of ownership of digital assets and the correct method of tax reporting

Yes. If you have a PTIN on file with us, we will submit your hours. To insure we have your correct info, please provide your PTIN when you register for a course. Please notify us if you have recently submitted a name change request to the IRS.

Your certificate will be emailed to you within 10 business days of the completion of the course.

  • Refunds or transfers to future education are allowed up to 7 days prior to the beginning of the course.
  • A $25 administrative fee will be charged for all course changes.
  • There are no partial refunds or discounts if a portion of the course is missed.
  • Once the Course Materials PDF is emailed, refunds are no longer available for that course.
Grand Event Registration
  • Registrations must be received no later than 7 days prior to the beginning of the course.
  • Registrations received after this date will be subject to a $35 late fee.

  • A $25 administration fee will be charged for all course changes.

  • An administrative charge of $25 will be assessed when any requested course changes are made.
  • Live courses may not be retaken without additional payment.

  • NSTP reserves the right to cancel any program or course for circumstances that are not under direct control of NSTP. If a course or program is cancelled, participants will be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

  • We do not accept walk-in attendees. Payment must be received in advance of the class.
