Course Description

This course gets the Tax Professional ready for the 2021 filing season implementing the changes of the SECURE legislation. The course includes retroactive extender provisions between 2018 - 2020.

  • Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the course will introduce the Tax Professional to a very broad based overview of the H.R. 6201, which includes both Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act and the Emergency Family Medical Leave Expansion Act and credits available to employers.

  • In Addition, this course also introduces the participant to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) H.R. 748, with a broad background on the purposes of the Legislation which are needed to better understand changes made to the tax provisions in the law.

IRS Notices and administrative actions will be discussed pertaining to 2019 and 2020 tax returns.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this course the participants will have attained solid detailed information needed to understand the changes made by the SECURE Act needed for filing 2019 tax returns and beyond. In Addition, the participants will have a good basic knowledge of the Family First Act and the CARES Act needed to take the advanced course level of information in the COVID-19 Tax Legislation Issues Facing Tax Professionals course presentation Day 2.
