Keith Huebel, CPA
Keith, a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Baltimore, a prestigious institution specializing in Business, Accounting, and Law, began his accounting and tax career in 1979 while attending college and passed the CPA exam in 1984. Throughout his career, he managed several local/regional CPA firm tax departments and has been the managing member of his own CPA firm since June 2005. Due to Keith’s leadership skills, integrity, dedication, vision, and professionalism while serving on the NSTP Board of Directors, he was unanimously elected to serve as NSTP’s President of the Board commencing January 2016. Keith was re-elected by the Board to the Office of President in 2018, 2020, and 2022, stepping down in January 2024. In January 2025, Keith was re-elected by the Board to the NSTP Office of President to complete the term of the then-current President, who resigned to dedicate time to family matters, through the end of December 2025.
Keith joined NSTP in July 1992, and in his early years with the organization, he frequently sought to propose innovative ideas that could enhance the organization. Due to his great interest in the organization and tax intellect, in 2000, he became NSTP’s representative at IRS Headquarters in Washington, DC, for the IRS’s National Public Liaison meetings and remains NSTP’s Director of Government Relations.
In August 2002, NSTP presented Keith with the “Service Award” in recognition of his dedicated service to the profession and NSTP. In 2010, the NSTP membership elected Keith to serve on its Board of Directors, and in 2011, he was honored with the Howard Longley Award. This award is presented by the Board of Directors in recognition of exemplary service to the organization, consistently displaying leadership, vision, and dedication to the members of NSTP, and setting an example of ethical conduct and professionalism. In October 2011, Keith stepped up to the Treasurer’s position and was elected Vice President in 2014. Keith served as both V.P. and Treasurer until elected as the President. For the year 2024, after stepping down as President, Keith once again served NSTP as its Treasurer. In September 2024, the President of NSTP presented Keith with the President’s Award for his dedication, loyalty, and service to the organization over the course of several decades. For the majority of Keith’s years with NSTP, he has volunteered his time to represent NSTP at the IRS National Tax Forums, where he meets with current NSTP members and seeks to register prospective members. For multiple years, Keith was selected by the IRS Director of the Office of Professional Responsibility to speak at the IRS National Tax Forums across the country on Circular 230 regulations.
When Keith is not representing NSTP or servicing clients, he often volunteers his time and expertise to local charities. He is a former member of Rotary International, has served on the boards of local charities, and is a Past Commodore of the Crescent Yacht Club (2019). Living near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, he often can be found on or around the water during the summer months with his family and friends. Keith is a family man with two married children and five grandchildren. He enjoys golfing, listening to live music, and dancing.
