The Annual Fall Update and Review Course covers the changes taking place that are needed for the preparation of 2025 Federal Income tax returns and beyond. The session will review both new provisions and changes enacted by Congress pertaining to the provisions of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, H.R.1. OBBBA provisions include:

  • §224 No Tax on Tips
  • §225 No Tax on Overtime
  • §151(d)(5) Deduction for seniors age 65 and other
  • §163(h)(4) Interest Deduction on Auto Loans
  • §24 CTC Expansion and Form 8812
  • §21 Child and Dependent Care Credit Expansion on Form 2441
  • §164 Increased SALT Deductions on Schedule A
  • §168(k) 100% Bonus Depreciation Made Permanent
  • §179 Expenses Election Deduction Increased
  • §170 Charitable Deduction for Non-itemizers
  • §23 Refundable Adoption Credit
  • §6050W changes to Form 1099-K reporting

The Course will specifically address the legislative action pertaining to the extension of provisions in the 2017 “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act”, (TCJA) that will impact planning issues for taxpayers beginning in 2025 and beyond.

If there is any additional Legislative action then the course will include those provisions.

In addition, the seminar will cover the provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 that have been repealed as a result of OBBBA including.

  • §25C Energy Efficient Property Credits on Form 5695
  • §25D Residential Energy Property Credits on Form 5695
  • §25E Previously Owned Clean Vehicle Credits on Form 8936
  • §30D New Clean Vehicle Credit on Form 8936
  • The course will also address all the provisions which are annually indexed to inflation and subject to phase-out-based on the taxpayer’s AGI and modified AGI, and filing status.
  • The course will address IRS Notices, Revenue Procedures, Revenue Rulings and Regulations applicable to the small firm’s practice.
  • 2025 Draft forms will be reviewed.

At the conclusion of the course, the participants will have obtained a better working knowledge of OBBBA and specific provisions enacted pertaining to the permanency of provisions in the 2017 “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” Legislation. In addition, participants will have reviewed the most important 2025 IRS draft forms and will be ready to tackle the 2026 filing season.

Event Administration Policies:

In Person Event/Course Refunds, Credits or Changes

  • Refunds or future education credits are available if requested up to 7 days before the event begins.
  • A $25 administrative fee will be charged for all course changes, including, refunds, cancellations and future education transfers.
  • Future education credits expire one year from transfer.
  • Refunds are no longer available once the Course Material PDF has been emailed.

Executive/Charter Member No Show Fees

  • Executive and Charter members who fail to provide advance cancellation notice will incur a $150 no-show fee.

Event/Course Registration

  • Registrations must be received no later than 7 days prior to the beginning of the course. Registrations received after this date will be subject to a $35 late fee.

NSTP Cancels Event or Course 

  • NSTP reserves the right to cancel any program for circumstances that are not under direct control of NSTP. If a course or program is canceled, participants will be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

Walk-Ins

  • We do not accept walk-in attendees. Payment must be received in advance of the class.

Guest Attendance Policy

  • A course/event confirmation is required for entry into any NSTP program.
  • Only paid registrants can attend seminars. In consideration of your fellow attendees, guests will need to depart before the session begins.
