On Thursday evening May 24, 2018, NSTP’s Director of Education, Paul La Monaca, CPA, MST, attended an invitation only event at The American University in Washington, D.C. The event featured Acting Commissioner Dave Kautter, who also holds the position of Assistant Secretary of Tax Policy. Mr. Kautter addressed a select group of about 50 individuals invited by Professor Don Williamson, American University’s Director of the Master’s in Taxation Program and Executive Director of the Kogod Tax Policy Center. Commissioner Kautter shared his career experiences in tax, from his days with Ernst & Young, serving on Capital Hill and as the former Managing Director of the Kogod Tax Policy Center and Professor at the School of Business. The Commissioner addressed information on the recent passage of The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the work that is being done at the Internal Revenue Service as a result of the Legislation. The discussion was moderated by the current Managing Director of the Kogod Tax Policy Center, Caroline Bruckner who also served on Capital Hill. NSTP PRESENTATIONS RANK NUMBER 1 AND 2 FOR TAX ASSOCIATIONS AT THE 2016 NATIONAL TAX FORUMS

On November 1, 2016 the IRS notified Paul La Monaca, NSTP’s Director of Education, that NSTP’s presentations at the 2016 National Tax Forums were rated number 1 and number 2 by the 10,720 attendees who filled out the evaluations at the 5 events where the 2016 Forums were held. Two of NSTP’s  top instructors, Paul La Monaca, CPA, MS Taxation and Nina Tross, MBA, EA, instructed, educated and entertained the nearly 11,000 Tax Professionals who participated in Chicago, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Orlando and San Diego.  There were 44 separate presentations given during the 3 days at each of the Forums. The # 1 rated presentation was “Schedule C Issues Facing the Tax Professional” and the # 2 rated presentation was titled “The Tax Professional’s Guide to Understanding the Importance of Substantiation of Business Expense Deductions”.
