2. Tax Research - A Review of IRS Administrative Documents
This 2-hour course provides a review of IRS administrative law. The IRS prepares a dizzying array of administrative guidance documents, each with a different purpose and a different weight of authority. Tax practitioners must be familiar with these pronouncements to properly advise their clients and to ensure that the practitioners have the proper authority for tax positions taken on returns which they sign. This course describes the different types of IRS administrative documents and explains how to evaluate their weight of authority. It also explains how to research these documents and identifies the different sources of this information. Subjects include:
3. Federal Tax Law Update - Recently Enacted Changes and What's In the Congressional Pipeline
This course is 3 hours in length and will examine the major changes in the Tax Code made during the last year as well as the proposals currently under consideration in Congress. Congress has allowed the impossible to happen. The estate tax is repealed for 20140 and many popular tax breaks have expired. Other major Bush tax cuts, such as the 35% top rate on individuals, are set to sunset in 2011. What is going to happen? This course will explore how and when Congress is likely to act so tax professionals can best advise their clients during this uncertain period. Included are the following enacted or proposed tax law revisions:
Orlando - Sunday & Monday, July 25-26, 2010
Las Vegas - Sunday & Monday, August 22-23, 2010
