NSTP Instructors

Laurie Conner Jarrett, EA

Laurie is a former IRS field officer and group manager. She worked for the Collection Division of the IRS for over 10 years in the IRS offices in Atlanta, Georgia.

She has been in private practice for over 20 years as an Enrolled Agent and specializes in representing her clients before the IRS in collection and problem resolution issues.

Laurie also served on the national board of directors of National Society of Tax Professionals for 15 years.

Rod Ervin, CPA, RTRP

Rod Ervin

A 1964 graduate of Portland State University, Rod achieved his CPA license in 1966 after working for two different national CPA firms in the Portland Area. He spent several years in accounting management of both large and small corporations. In 1974, he opened his own CPA firm in Vancouver, Washington. The practice grew and, in 1986, he sold his practice and began a career as an entrepreneur as well as an international consultant on taxation. Rod is now retired as a CPA, but continues to operate a small specialized tax practice. He has been advising NSTP members through the National Tax Hotline for the past ten years and teaching various NSTP Sponsored Seminars. For the past four years he has lectured at the IRS' National Tax Forums.

Barry Iacono, EA, CFP

Barry Iacono

Barry has been a tax professional for more than 27 years. He has been an Enrolled Agent since 1990 and a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute since 1993.

He is the principal in his firm, D. Barry Iacono and Associates, Financial and Tax Planning in Virginia Beach, VA. Barry's areas of specialization include tax preparation, representation, and education; investments; retirement plans and planning; estate planning; and business consulting and planning.

Barry has been speaking and teaching for more than 20 years. His background includes speaking to numerous public and professional organizations in many venues. Most recently he has presented a variety of tax topic presentations to the National Society of Tax Professionals, the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents, and the National Association of Tax Professionals.

Another special area of education is that of preparing prospective Enrolled Agents for the Special Enrollment Exam for more than 17 years. Barry is the SEE Course Coordinator and an Instructor for the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents programs.

In 1987 Barry became a Certified Financial Planner. He holds FINRA licenses 7, 63, and 24. He is a graduate of The George Washington University with Masters and Bachelors degrees in business.

Marie Izzo, EA

Barry Iacono

Marie is an Enrolled Agent who has worked in the corporate side of accounting along the east coast for over thirty years. Currently at a firm in Wilmington, NC, she specializes in accounting, business consulting, tax preparation and IRS/state representation (including the offer in compromise program). With years of experience as a business owner, Marie has a special understanding of her clients' challenges and concerns. Combining her own experience with extensive training, Marie is able to help seminar attendees and clients understand tax law easily.

Marie is an educator for the local Community College in Wilmington and also for their Small Business Center Education program. When she is not traveling as an instructor for the National Society of Tax Professionals, she often volunteers to teach classes to business owners at local networking events.

Paul LaMonaca, CPA, MST

Paul LaMonaca

Paul is a tax and accounting practitioner in suburban Washington, DC. He is a former accounting and tax professor at the American University in Washington, DC. He holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from LaSalle College in Philadelphia and an M.S. degree in Taxation from American University in Washington, DC. He is a frequent lecturer and his topics include corporations, individuals, collection procedures and real estate. He was also named as the Tax Instructor of the Year by the National Society of Tax Professionals (NSTP) in 1993 and 1994. Paul also speaks at many State Society Tax Consultant seminars and conventions.

Paul is in partnership with Don Williamson. The firm has been in existence December 1, 1989. The establishment of this firm is the result of a merger between Mr. LaMonaca and Mr. Williamson of their individual practices which they both established in 1986.The practice is primarily active in the tax matters of interest to individuals, small businesses and self-employed. They provide consultation services to these entities and prepare tax returns at all levels. An area of concentration available to clients is the knowledge of the tax effects dealing with real estate transactions.

Paul is the co-author of several real estate tax articles published in the Real Estate Taxation Journal of the Bureau of National Affairs.

Vicki Lewis, EA

Vicki is a retired IRS Field Collection Manager. She has 33 years IRS Collection experience gained in a variety of positions within IRS Collection Function in three states-Georgia, Iowa and South Carolina.

While employed by IRS, she served on task forces to develop and write training material for the IRS Field Collection function.

She was re-hired by IRS as a contract instructor for newly hired Field Collection Officers in 2007 and instructed until 2011. She is now in private practice as an enrolled agent

Isaac R. McRae, III, MST, EA, Fellow NTPI

Isaac R. McRae

Isaac McRae has over 30 years experience in the tax industry. Mr. McRae earned a BBA in Accounting from Howard University, a MS in Taxation from Southeastern University and a Fellow from the National Tax Practice Institute. Mr. McRae began his career preparing corporation and partnership returns for General Business Services, later working in the Audit, Compliance and Investigation Division for the District of Columbia Department of Finance and Revenue. In January 1988 Mr. McRae started his tax practice. Mr. McRae worked as an adjunct professor of taxation at Southeastern University an instructor for the MD/DC Society of Enrolled Agents teaching the Enrolled Agent prep course and an instructor for the National Society of Tax Professionals teaching the RTRP prep course.

Dana Minot, EA

Dana Minot

Dana Minot, EA is a sole-proprietor whose professional practice includes tax return preparation and tax consulting as well as accounting services. She has been a Certified QuickBooks Advisor since 1996. She has been an active member in NSTP since 1999 and, in 2009, was elected to the Board of Directors. Her teaching experience includes EA exam preparation, QuickBooks and various income tax subjects. Dana is a past President of the Washington State Tax Consultants (WSTC).

Nina Tross, EA, ABA, RTRP

Nina Tross

Nina is an accounting and tax professional offering expertise in compliance, tax planning and small business development and management. She has experience with Internal Revenue Service and state tax audits, and submissions to the offer in compromise program. She also assists with applications for nonprofit status to the Internal Revenue Service. She is QuickBooks certified.

Nina has been an Instructor for the National Society of Tax Professionals since 2005.

Cyril J. Wade, CPA

CJ Wade

a CPA with over thirty-eight years of accounting experience was self-employed for twenty-eight years in his own accounting firm located in southern New Jersey. His firm performed all phases of public accounting activities for a variety of individuals as well as small and large private companies. In addition, he has enjoyed teaching professional seminars throughout various states for many years. He has been an adjunct accounting instructor at Rowan University, Cumberland County College, and Fairton Federal Correctional Facility. He is currently employed as a consultant to his former business and is a seminar instructor for the National Society of Tax Professionals (NSTP) . CJ is a 1975 magna cum laude graduate of Rowan University (in Glassboro, NJ) as well as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
