ATTENDING THE IRS NATIONAL TAX FORUM? PRE-BOOK YOUR CASE-RESOLUTION ROOM APPOINTMENT:

A new addition to the 2024 IRS Tax Forum, is the ability to book an appointment with the TAS Case Resolution Rooms in advance. The goal of this is to expedite the intake process and resolve problems more quickly. You MUST be registered for the IRS National Tax Forum in the city where you are trying to book an appointment in order to schedule an on-site appointment with the Case Resolution Room team.

What is the Case Resolution Program?

The Case Resolution Program offers personalized assistance, available in-person, to help you with your toughest case involving an IRS tax matter. IRS and Taxpayer Advocate representatives with specialized expertise will be on site. This will give you an opportunity to meet in-person for a one-on-one conversation. They will conduct thorough research and endeavor to promptly resolve your tax matter right then and there, ensuring a swift solution.

If they cannot resolve the case onsite or they need to perform further research, they will establish a case in the Taxpayer Advocate Service and request further assistance from the appropriate IRS unit. Each authorized tax practitioner who is registered is limited to one case per registered event. They will not be able to assist you with your own personal tax matter or any case where you have a vested interest in a corporation, partnership, estate and/or trust.

A signed original or copy of a Form 2848, Power of Attorney (POA), or a Form 8821, Tax Information Authorization will be required and must be presented when scheduling and appearing for an appointment. Even if you have a valid POA submitted to the IRS Centralized Authorization File (CAF) Unit, we will still need a signed original or a signed copy at the Case Resolution room.

Once you have scheduled an appointment online you will receive a confirmation email containing instructions on how to submit the required documents beforehand to expedite the resolution of your tax matter at the Tax Forum.

Can I get an appointment at the tax forum?

Yes, they will begin making appointments in person at each Tax Forum event on Monday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. There will be a table setup near the conference registration. On Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM they will have a table outside the Case Resolution Program room and will setup any remaining appointments there.

If you plan to schedule an appointment in person at the event, please complete a Form 13989, IRS Tax Forum Case Resolution Data Sheet in advance.

Be prepared to provide us with your authorization (Form 2848, Power of Attorney (POA) or Form 8821, Tax Information Authorization) and other relevant documentation at the tax forum.

You can submit your documents electronically. You will be provided with electronic submission options after setting up your appointment either online in advance or in person at the event.
